1810 Floral Dress

This was originally a project to use up leftover fabric, as I had so much material remaining from my 1869 dress. Funnily enough, I packed it away right after finishing it and forgot it even existed. It wasn’t until years later that I found it again and was really happy about it, so a photoshoot was definitely in order.

The material is a cotton fabric from an Ikea bedding, which I sewed entirely by hand. I also added a little bit of red fabric for the details. There was even enough fabric for a small train, as the overall silhouette is very narrow and therefore doesn’t require much material.

The dress features a so-called drop-front, meaning the front piece acts sort of like an apron. Underneath lies the actual closure: a lacing in the front. This makes it very easy to put the dress on without any help, while also allowing for a beautifully clean back.

Many thanks to DanielMaksymilian for taking the photos, edits by me.
